you would never know
you would
never know
that my father
is homeless
with his ironed
shirts
and clean
white
tennis shoes
his fresh breath
and slicked back
hair
his cat on
a leash might
give him away
his squinted
eyes
with
tired tears
"I only slept 3 hours"
he might say
of course I
understand
Because I can't
sleep either
and I have
a home
a warm bed
and a variety of
pillows.
You would never
know that my father is
homeless
He even has
a brand new
cell phone
a job
a cat on
a leash
And there is
nothing I can
do.
